Elk About Lodge

Elk About Lodge:

Everyone asks the same thing. What does "Elk About" mean? Of course the people who have been to our little piece of paradise on the slopes of Mount Rainier National Park know the answer.

The area is famous for a small heard of Elk that roam the area at certain times of the year. They roam all around, even making their way to our windows. These are gentle wonderful creatures that guests love seeing (But we do keep a bit of distance, because they are Big with a capital "B".)

Our neck of the woods is in the small neighborhood of Greenwater, Washington. Set on the banks of the White River, mountains soar directly above our community. We are the gateway to the park of course, but also the closest home neighborhood to Washington State's largest ski resort - Crystal Mountain.

About Elk About Lodge:

Although our home is newer, it still has all the touches that any great mountain lodge should have. There's a toasty fireplace and a wonderful porch for sipping your morning coffee every morning. You'll also find a large hot tub to soak in every night, that's especially soothing after a day of skiing or hiking.

Gourmet cooks have commented on how complete our kitchen is and how open it feels. There are granite counters where you can see the evergreen back yard while preparing eats. The big gas stove allows you to cook enough grub to feed everyone twice over.

The home is complete with pots, pans, dishes and table ware. Of course, if you have some special kitchen gadget, pot or spice you may want to bring it with you. But most folks think we have all the good stuff.

Be sure to check out all the photos on this website to see the kid friendly log-cabin bunks. All of the other bedrooms are equally high quality and inviting to everyone of all ages.

We also built a "frog" above the garage as a place for kids to hang out and watch movies. This is a separate space accessible from inside the entryway.

There is especially comfortable furniture and a table great for card games, dining and talking with your family.

We have taken to provide quality linens, spreads, pillows, towels and other amenities. Most Four Star mountain hotels would find it difficult to match the rustic luxury of our place in the trees.

What Others Have to Say:

"Very good property, clean and enjoyable."- Ramchander

"It lived up to its name as we had several elk visit the property and neighborhood during our five-day stay." - Vicki

"This is a great place to hang out with the family. Plenty of indoor and outdoor places to be comfortable and play." - Julie

More About Elk About Lodge:

Although we get snow every winter it's not overwhelming. But, we must say that our home is one you wouldn't mind getting "snowed in." Many guests spend time with family and friends in our great room with lots of space to spread out under the lofty lofted ceiling.

We're located right on the river, a short stroll through the trees. Outdoors, guests seem to love the seasonal back-yard fire pit where they can roast hot dogs, marshmallows or make 'smores. You find yourselves sitting there for hours. Sure this a good quality propane barbecue. Yes there is wood for the fireplace.

Although you will be well into the mountains, Elk About is inside the Crystal River Ranch community with neighbors, a playground and other amenities.

We're sorry to say that pets are not allowed at Elk About Lodge. But you are welcome to consider the Elk themselves as your temporary pets.

Every vacation rental may say they are a "home away from home" but you'll believe it about Elk About after you spend just a day or more here. Please visit us soon.
